The “Birdman” team of Alejandro González Iñárritu, Nicolás Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris and Armando Bo drew the prize for best original screenplay, while “Gone Girl’s” Gillian Flynn won for adapted screenplay.
“True Detective,” written by Nic Pizzolatto, nabbed the television drama prize, and Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady of “The Big Bang Theory” won for television comedy.
The 11 winners of the Big Break Screenwriting Contest were also announced, with Chad Rhiness and Christopher Iannacone taking the grand prizes for the feature and TV categories, respectively.
The evening was hosted by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, who presented the Hall of Fame award to Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, the team behind scripts including “Big Eyes,” “The People vs. Larry Flynt” and “Ed Wood.”
The prizes are voted on by thousands of users of the screenplay software.
