A lot of writers use the Beat Board and Story Map to lay out their story in a non-linear way, but if you’re someone who prefers a more linear, A-then-B-then-C approach to structuring a plot, Final Draft 11 has another way that might work for you.
If you’re starting a new project and you want to start with thumbnail sketches of your scenes in chronological order, go to View > Scene View. You’ll see a blank scene row, and in the Add Scene Title field you can enter information that indicates what happens in the scene:
Right-click or Control + click to bring up the context menu, from which you can select Insert New Scene:
A new scene row will be added, into which you can type the next scene title:
Now all you have to do is insert enough new scenes and you’ll have a great story! Simple!
